Keeping our May bus on the road

When The May Centre experienced battery problems on their Mini Bus during the winter,
Stuart Holman of the The Car Shop stepped in to help with a donation of a Solar Battery Charger.
“We discovered that we were not doing enough mileage over a long period of time to keep the battery fully charged” said Dermot Wesley-Smith of The May Centre. “We are very grateful to The Beccles Car Shop for their kind donation which helps to keep our May Bus running to enable us to provide the vital service we give to the Beccles Community.”
The picture below is showing Stuart Holman of Beccles Car Shop presenting
the charger to Mrs Janet Forster–Warnes, Chairman of The May Centre.

Driver required

Volunteer mini bus driver required

The May Centre is looking for a volunteer to drive our 17 seater Mercedes Sprinter bus on a Thursday.

This position would suit someone who can work with an enthusiastic, friendly team and is happy to help people with mobility problems, by collecting them in the morning and returning them to their homes at the end of the day. This amounts to approximately three hours, split between the morning and afternoon. Helpers are on board for every trip. The suitable person needs to be over 21 and hold a full, clean license with a D1 category. Training given.

Fundraisers Summer Lunch

The May Centre celebrated today with a Summer lunch provided by the fund raising committee, attended by members and volunteers. A cheque for £166 was presented to the centre manager, Joyce Wilson, on behalf of Beccles Amateur Sailing Club by Janet Forster-Warnes. The donations were collected at the sailing club’s recent fun day, marking their own 110th anniversary.
